Privacy Policy

The Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association (“ETPA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that restores, preserves, and operates the historic Egyptian Theatre at 229 S. Broadway, Coos Bay, Oregon. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect on this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it in plain language.

Information we collect

• Information you give us. When you sign up for our newsletter, ask to volunteer, or otherwise contact us, we collect what you enter: typically your name and email address, and your phone number if you choose to provide it.
• Payment information. Donations and memberships are processed by our payment provider, Zeffy (see below). Your card details are entered into Zeffy’s form and handled by Zeffy. We never receive or store your payment card information.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set its own cookies, and we do not use advertising or analytics cookies or third-party ad trackers. Some features we embed from other companies may set their own cookies or load their own scripts when you interact with them, for example the Zeffy donation and membership forms on our Donate and Join pages, the Google Maps map on our Contact page, and the YouTube video on our Wurlitzer page (embedded through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play). Those are controlled by the third party and governed by that company’s own privacy policy.

Basic visit information. Our own lightweight visit counter (shared with our events website, egyptiantheatre.events) records the page you viewed, the name of the website that referred you (just the site’s address, such as google.com, not the full link), your browser’s user-agent string (which identifies your browser and device type), and your IP address, so we can understand how many people use the site and which pages are popular. It sets no cookie and does not follow you to other websites. To show our staff roughly where visitors come from, we send visitor IP addresses to a geolocation service, ipwho.is, which returns a city or region (not a street address). We keep these records for about 90 days, then delete them.

Payment processing (Zeffy)

We use Zeffy, a payment platform built for nonprofits, to process donations and membership purchases through forms embedded on our site. When you give or join, your payment is handled entirely by Zeffy; ETPA never sees or stores your card number, and Zeffy issues your receipt. At checkout Zeffy may invite you to add an optional tip that supports Zeffy. That tip is separate from your gift to ETPA and is entirely optional. Zeffy’s handling of your information is described in Zeffy’s privacy policy.

How we use your information

• respond to your inquiries and administer volunteer interest;
• process donations and memberships (through Zeffy) and keep our organizational records;
• send you communications you’ve asked for, such as our newsletter, through our email provider.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run the association and this site, and only as needed for them to perform that service, including:

• Zeffy: donation and membership payment processing;
• Mailchimp (Intuit Mailchimp): our email newsletter service, used to send the newsletters and updates you sign up for; the details you enter in our signup form are submitted to Mailchimp and handled per Intuit’s privacy statement;
• Microsoft Azure: website hosting.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of ETPA, our visitors, or others.

How long we keep information

• Newsletter and contact information: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
• Member and donor records: kept for historical, archival, and organizational record-keeping purposes.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any newsletter. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Contact us using the details below and we’ll help. Because we’re a small nonprofit, the simplest way to reach a real person is to call or email.

Children’s privacy

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we’ll remove it.

Other websites

Our site links to other websites, including our payment forms, our box-office and events site, and social media. We aren’t responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the effective date at the top of the page.
